If I had to explain what Social Media was I would say Twitter, Facebook, MySpace etc. If I had to explain the goal and purpose of each. Before today,  I would have probably said

“To help people connect with their friends”.

Welcome to my JRN 492 Blog. I will be posting my insight on various topics according to the class requirements. I welcome you to read, comment, share your insight with me as I learn the “real” behind Social Media. I will also be blogging on a different topic at voice4her.wordpress.com. I would greatly appreciate the love. Again, Thank you for the read and stay with me as I unravel the Web of Social Media through my class experience.

My first introduction to Social Media was my freshmen year of college.  I was so excited to upload my profile picture, make a profile name and write a tell-all bio about myself. It was exciting. A WHOLE NEW WORLD of COMMUNICATION. I would like to think I had a cool social life, a decent amount of friends. However, Facebook took having a social life to another level. Before I knew it, I had thousands of friends and through my picture album, my life was great. A year later, Twitter became the latest trend. Although, I didn’t hook on to twitter until all of my friends joined the social media. It wasn’t Facebook, but I gave it a try. Eventually, I had hundreds of friends and I was suddenly more aware of the happenings in the world at any second. Facebook and Twitter made me more connected to the world outside of my circle of friends. Recently, I have learned that how I utilize Twitter and Facebook, makes all the difference in my success. Not only as a progressing journalist, but as a person living in this rapid world of Technology. How people communicate is changing. It has changed. I am excited to post more about my social media evolution as I learn in class.
